Around the Office: Update with Dr. Yana

posted on: Thursday, March 31, 2016

Hello friends! Today's post is a little bit different than my usual fashion norm because today we are touching base with Dr. Yana and my...Invisalign! So a little update on my progress I am currently wrapping up tray number 9. Can't believe I'm already here- just a testament to how fast time flies.

I am ecstatic to report that I am so happy with the results so far! Since I knew this was going to be a process, I didn't bother much with checking any noticeable differences with my teeth. Too soon I thought- well I thought wrong. I saw a big improvement in my bottom teeth and to this day am still shocked at how quickly that occurred.

So last time we discussed lifestyle changes including the non-existence of guilty pleasure snacking. Well that is still happening. I can't tell you how many times I've passed on a tasty treat, cupcake, or general deliciousness because I didn't want to fuss with my Invisalign. And surprisingly, it hasn't been challenging at all. The thing that has been more tough for me is dealing with liquids! Water is your friend- everything else is not. If you've followed me for a while you know that I am a self-proclaimed wino. Red please.

As far as any pain, the only time I experienced any discomfort was tray number 6. That one was definitely tight on the first day. But it's a good sore- kind of like when you go to the gym and are sore the next day but you know that just means you did something right. Am I right?!

Another point to mention is my level of overall comfort with Invisalign. You definitely may feel a little self-conscious when around other people. I used to fight the urge to take it off when in social settings. Now I don't mind literally at all. I can speak without a lisp and the bulkiness is pretty much non existent.

Lastly, going to the dentist is never high up on anyone's priority list. Let's face it, it's not the most enjoyable experience. But I kid you not when I say I look forward to visits with Dr. Yana. Reason number one out of a million is that she exclusively treats Invisalign patients. This means no needles, drills, numbing creams, or any other cringe worthy dentist delights. 100% non invasive! And can we talk about how beautiful her office is?! Something I learned is that all Invisalign runs about the same price. So if you can have your experience with this kind of ambience- it's kind of a no-brainer!!

But most importantly she is incredibly kind and personable. Everyone that works with her is equally upbeat and informative which makes each visit dare I say- FUN.

I am so excited to keep taking the steps towards a great smile. If you have a similar story to me or simply have questions concerning Invisalign or Dr. Yana's practice, please feel free to email me or comment below!

Trend To Love: Fringe Denim

Happiest of Fridays love! I didn't realize it was a holiday weekend until last night. Oh life. This weekend I will be heading to Big Bear to celebrate my bae's birthday! We have a big group of friends congregating in a cabin where we shall commence drinking, snowboarding, and being all around merry. CAN'T. WAIT.

Definitely not going to lie. Feeling major guilt pangs missing Easter this year. I think it may be only the second time in my life I have not been home. But hey, that's a pretty good track record all things considered!!

Ok now, back to the fashun. As I've mentioned before, I have fallen back in love with jeans and boy have I fallen hard. I am very grateful for the new cropped/cutoff style because it gives me and my hard to dress legs a chance! Here I paired them with a long trench and of course my trusty LBB's. This exact style I am wearing is sold out (get on that waiting list!) but I've linked below some equally amazing alternatives.

Now time for my tip! I have one word for you: BODYSUITS. They are the jam paired with denim. I like a little peekaboo with my outfits and it does the trick. Show a little, but not too much!

Ok that is all for now. Must go tackle the rest of my checklist including packing. Why do I always do this to myself?!

Happy weekend vibes babes! x

I can't believe I am saying this but it's almost that time babes! Yes that is correct I am talking about the almighty festival season. I am getting the festivities started this year with my friends over at Lulu's!

Finding the perfect outfit can be daunting. Trust me, I am not immune from the headache of crafting an on fleek fit which is why I weigh heavily on major online inspo. I also love/need/desire specific categories so I can really focus before my ADD kicks in!

Enter Lulu's Boho Category- filled to the brim with rompers, dresses, kaftans, jewels, gems, and everything in-between. Basically your festival outfit dream. My advice to avoid being overwhelmed and really getting your ideal outcome is to go into the search with a plan. What colors are you digging this spring? What cuts and lengths have been your go-to's lately? What trends do you want to avoid?

Create a mental checklist and you'll be able to filter through the pages lickety-split! Tunnel vision my friends. This year I'm taking a different approach with my look than years past. Ohhh mystery. Stay tuned babes!

The One To Watch: Nicole Vienna

I always wondered when/if my style would change. I sometimes felt like I dressed too young for my age but of course that didn't stop me. I think you should wear what makes you feel good no matter what. But this year the tides have changed and I find myself drawn to a more minimal look.

This can also be seen with my accessories. The last couple years chunky, statement pieces were my go-to. But now I'm coveting anything and everything gold and minimal. Enter this amazing watch from Nicole Vienna. I think I literally gasped when I saw it online. I love the mesh paired with the black marble. A watch will always be a classic part of a woman's wardrobe which is why I think you should keep them sleek and timeless. Pardon that pun. It's also the easiest way to bring an outfit together both casual and dressy.

What accessories are you guys digging for spring? Leave a comment below and let me know!

Mexico City Part II: D.F. Highlights

I love looking at this set of photos because I get to teleport back to Mexico City days with my hunny. He's seriously such an amazing travel companion. And because of life and responsibilities, these photos will have to do until our next adventure. CAN'T. WAIT.

Definitely had some D.F. highlights that I want to share. So to elaborate more on my previous post, here are some traveling recommendations from me to you!

Restaurants, Cafe's, Taco Stands, Oh my!
There is definitely no shortage of places to get your grub on. It can almost be overwhelming. But when it comes to food, I welcome the challenge. One of my favorites was Mercado Roma. If you live in LA, it has a very similar vibe to Grand Central Market. There are many mini-kiosks that have everything form burgers to tapas to macarons. Basically an indecisive eater's dream! For a little caffeine fix check out Buna Café Rico. Cute ambience and good coffee- sold! For even more of a cuteness overload vibe and casual dining check out Lalo! That exclamation mark is no mistake my friends. In addition to Lalo!, Chef Eduardo García (also of Maximo Bistro) created the menu for Pueblo 109. This place offers herb and fruit filled cocktails as well as yummy plates that are currently making my mouth water. The atmosphere can be described in two words- hip AF.

Sights and Attractions
If you follow me on Instagram you might have caught this photo. It was taken at the Museo Nacional de Antropología. Definitely a must-see! The surrounding area to the building has a lot of great energy as well as vendors, people, and at one point a little mini circus act. If you happen to be there on a Sunday I highly recommend renting bikes and biking to the museum. It's a beautiful ride and bonus you get to bypass any traffic!

We also spent a lot of time in Zócalo because of its proximity to our Airbnb. It is the main square in central Mexico City. Here you can check out the beautiful cathedral, museums, and authentic Mexican cuisine. Be sure to check museum operation times because they are closed on certain days for maintenance. I know this because we made this mistake...twice. Heartbreak.

Probably my most favorite experience was attending a Lucha Libre fight!! It is such a big deal in Mexico and the energy is amazing. I suggest getting there a little early and grabbing a few tacos out front before the fight. You will absolutely be entertained.

Meet Up With Locals
I am completely rambling but my last bit of advice when traveling, anywhere really, is to take advantage of local knowledge. I truly believe you get a completely different experience when you hang out with people that know the lay of the land. For this trip we got connected with a friend of a friend and it was amazing! She let us  tag along on her night out and we ate/drank/danced at places we probably would never have been to without her. And naturally you end up meeting more new people to send Facebook friend requests to.

I can't express enough how important I believe experiencing new cultures is. Traveling allows you to have first hand encounters with people outside your norm which inevitably leads to being a more aware, well-rounded individual. Of course traveling does take certain finances which is why my boyfriend and I almost always opt out of traditional, tangible gifts and instead save up to take trips together both near and far. Even a quick few days up in San Francisco or a ferry ride to Catalina will still garner more rewards for me than a new pair of shoes.

Rambling complete!
